Promoting Sustainable Building in Bangladesh is a project by the support of European Union under the switch Asia programme which is implementing by Oxfam in partnership with Housing and Building Research Institute (HBRI) and two other co-applicant organizations the Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) and Jagorani Chakra Foundation (JCF). The project will be implemented in 3 Upazillas of Dhaka and Jashore Districts with an aim to generate market transformations in the construction sector, promoting ABs and other green construction technologies amongst consumer and producer groups for wider replication and commercialization across Bangladesh.
The project will primarily influence patterns of consumption, promoting the purchase and use of Abs and other green construction materials by raising awareness. So number of mass awareness interventions are planned to make people aware about the ongoing initiatives on sustainable consumption and production and alternative building technologies. Student awareness program is marked as one of the major program for raising awareness under the project interventions. Under this intervention, the 8th batch of student awareness program was organized by HBRI on 11th July 2018 at its own premises. A total of 40 participants joined the awareness program among them 39 were students from Department of Architect of Daffodil International University. Representatives from three organizations namely BELA, OXFAM and HBRI and one faculty members from Daffodil University were also present.
